J. Chu got it going on..

Erykah Badu- My Life (J. Chu Cover)

So this awesome girl I know named Melissa who I studied abroad with in Beijing has a friend out in Austin, TX who is an amazing singer/songwriter. He's this asian boi with the voice of a strong black woman. His name is J. Chu and he does amazing covers of Erykah Badu, Feist, Joanna Newsom, Monica, and others.  He also has great original work as well (My favorites being "Giving Away" and "The Belly of Us").

Check out his space and enjoy!

M.I.A. was sick!

M.I.A. is so hot. Seriously, I love the way she moves.   I already did a full review of the show from a musical aspect on District Underground, but now I just wanna talk about the show experience in general.  I went w/ my friend Thomas and some of his friends, and we were definitely curious as to what the crowd was going to be like.  I thought it would be pretty eclectic, and I thought right.

Well because we were there, obviously the gays were out for the show.  But the rest of the crowd consisted of hipsters, scenesters, hip hop folk, people who only had ever heard of "paper planes", lots of stoners.. so needless to say it was a fun crowd.

We were all dancing the whole night and then headed back afterwards, met some new friends, wasted my Friday, and then got ready for KKG Semi and then  Pike Semi.  It was a whirlwind of a weekend, but fun and very drunk.

Good stuff.

Fav Jam of the Moment

I don't know too much about this band called Thieves Like Us, other than they have this song called "Drugs In My Body", and it is getting the shit mixed out of it right now.  This is probably my favorite of the remixes.  Currently, it's getting the roommates at a dance level of 6.7 out of 10.

Inspiration

Last night I was having a somewhat serious conversation with someone, and he casually concluded that conversation by saying, "God, you're a weird kid."  I quickly and casually responded, "Yeah I know."

Additionally, I've been writing for another blog called The District Underground, which I've really been enjoying and getting into more and more.  That blog is all about music, fashion, and shows, and I plan on continuing to write for that blog; however, I kinda want something all for me... something that embraces my unique weirdness for all of my many fans out there.  So to my 3 fans out there (Mom, Dad, and my dog Dodger).. this one is for you.
Nah but in all honesty.. this blog will include music I'm currently jamming, some pictures/vids from my life, perhaps some journaling (I promise nothing emo-ish or political), and maybe some artwork I've been doing.  My hope is that it will be random and fresh, and hopefully I hope you dig it as much as I do... at least in concept.
