"I'm fratty as fuck.. UHH"

A couple of my fraternity brothers made a "frat version" of the "My New Haircut" video. lots of inside jokes so i'll make a reference vocab sheet:

Adams Mill- It is a bar in Adams Morgan in DC that a lot of my fraternity brothers head to on Thursday nights because my roommate Rob is a bartender there.

Frat Shag- "Noun: Hair style characterized by front hair line “shagging” down to the eyes. Always worn free of any hair product."- definition courtesy of FrattingHard.com

GDI- God Dam Independent; it means someone who did not join a Greek-letter college fraternity or sorority- and only the social ones count

Croakies- Fratty sunglasses attached with a neck cord

Block- He is a bouncer at the bar Adams Mill.

Swat Pong/Swat Pong Balls- a version of Beirut or Beer Pong that the GWU Pikes invented; balls are live after misses and can be passed toward teammates and swatted into cups

My fingertips are holding onto...

The cracks in our foundation.
And I know that I should let go, but I can't
And every time we fight I know it's not right
Every time that you're upset and I smile
I know I should forget, but I can't

If you didn't catch Michelle on Colbert last night- check it out.

Damn she is smokin' hot! She did well on Colbert and didn't make any gaffes. I hope this means they let her out of her cage after the "I'm proud for the first time" comments

The GW Hatchet is sometimes very highschool...

You'd think the GW Hatchet would have better political writing, but I find it generally pretty similar to high school papers in that regard. Now I know what you're thinking, who reads anything besides the Crime Log and gossip in the Hatchet, but this particular article pissed me off.

Sophomore Sophie Zavaglia wrote an article called "Are Democrats ignoring gays?". She goes on to talk about how neither Obama or Hillary have anything on their websites about gay and lesbian issues and don't reach out to the gay audience. This couldn't be further from the truth for either candidate, but since I don't waste my time on Hillary's website I'm going to solely focus on Obama.

First, Zavaglia says Obama doesn't have GLBT in his "issues" section, which is true.. because it's under People. He actually has a website called Pride.BarackObama.Com. Sorry it's not under the issues sections. But the point is, Obama does GLBT outreach. When I was w/ the campaign in Iowa they did all the time. They even had an event at this hole-in-the wall gay bar called Mary's in Downtown Davenport, IA as part of the GLBT outreach efforts.

Has she not seen the awesome Rainbow version of the Obama O??

God what does this girl want? A whole PDF release on Obama's stance on gay issues? Fine, I'll give her One!

Did she also miss all the stories leading up to the Texas primary about Obama seeking out the gay vote?
Queerty's article, "Obama's Gay Push"
Huffington's, "Obama makes gay ad buys in Ohio, Texas"
there's like a million of these stories..

Did she miss the whole controversy about Obama and the Black Church audience. It's no secret that homophobia is rampant among the black christian community, and on Martin Luther King Day gave a speech at a huge black church in Atlanta in which Obama said, "We have scorned our gay brothers and sisters instead of embracing them. The scourge of anti-Semitism has, at times, revealed itself in our community. For too long, some of us have seen immigrants as competitors for jobs instead of companions in the fight for opportunity."

Dude- he said that TO THEIR FACE, and to a very mixed response by these church-goers. Obama loves the gays, gurl!

This is just lazy reporting, Ms. Zavaglia. Who the hell is your editor?

Say what you want about Matt Drudge..

But he sure does leak a good story. Like just now when he leaked that Prince Harry is fighting on the front lines in Afghanistan! He's scheduled for a 3-month tour, but I'm sure he's already been moved now that the secret is out.

Now, I didn't think it were possible for my love of Prince Harry to grow any more, but I must say- this is pretty sexy of him. I mean, 3rd in the line for the throne, 23 years old, smokin' hot... what business does he have to go fight the Taliban in Afghanistan.

It's pretty grown-up of him, and the pictures of him in camo make a part of me grow up as well...

And to even further add to Harry's hotness, check out these quotes! Damn he's sexy:

haha.. lame duck presidents are the BEST

This is a really funny article from Daily Kos called Bush Understands Your Mentality.

Bush predicted that the GOP would win in November based on the argument that he understands the American people so well. Does he also understand that according to every opinion poll Americans overall don't think he's done a very good job??

Did he forget that in 2006 the reason Democrats took back Congress is because of his failed administration. And why is Democratic voter turnout for the 2008 Primaries killing the Republicans if Oracle Bush's prediction is true?? I mean, Barack Obama alone received more votes than all of the Republican candidates COMBINED... in VIRGINA.

I think the best part of it though, is that no one is taking President Bush's prediction seriously at all. In fact, I bet McCain is going to try and distance himself from it as much as possible.

The best part of the Oscars

Glen Hansard y Marketa Iglová en los Oscars
by videoyouth

Overall, I'd have to say the Oscars were pretty WIZZ-EAK. I mean, I had my computer and work there with me to pretend-write a paper so I could justify watching the Oscars in the middle of midterms. I didn't intend to actually finish that paper, and I think that tells you a little bit about how boring it was.

There were some highlights though. John Stewart's political jokes were pretty funny, and I particularly liked this jab at John McCain: "Oscar is 80 this year, which makes him now automatically the front-runner for the Republican nomination." And the "Gaydolf Titler" comparison to Barack Hussein Obama was also hysterical.

But my favorite part of the night was the performance of the song "Falling Slowly" by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglová from the soundtrack of the movie Once. It's just a gorgeous song- with eerie honest vocals that shake me to the bone. Mostly, it was just nice seeing some independent artists not only on the stage of the Oscars, that actually took home the award for Best Original Song. The front man from The Frames just won an Oscar up against 3 Disney songs! That's pretty impressive. It's a good day for independent artists, and my favorite part was when John Stewart brought Marketa back out for the acceptance speech after she got cut off by the music too early. Check the video out below as well as links to the movie version and the Frames version of Falling Slowly.

UPDATE: Sorry that the acceptance speech has Spanish dubs over it, but the Oscars have basically removed all of their clips from YouTube and so links are a little scarce right now.

I love when this happens..

Ah, it's like a hug from baby Jesus when you find these moments on your camera the next time you open it. Who else absolutely loves it when someone goes to take a picture with a camera set on video?!? It's an instant hit, and this short clip is no exception.

Mr. Hall seems to be really pissed off with the recording going on, but I'm more interested in if anyone can make out the frat boy noises during the beginning?

Yes We Can

This man is destined to be the next president of the United States of America. These are not "false hopes."
